Saw Palmetto (Serenoa Repens)

What It Is
Saw Palmetto is a tropical palm-like small plant primarily found in North America and contains essential fatty acids required for the proper function of hair, skin and nails.
What It Does
The hormone testosterone causes most hair loss in both men and women and its conversion into a molecule called DHT. An essential fatty acid extract of saw palmetto berries has been shown to block 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT.
The Science
Saw palmetto has been shown in over 25 clinical trials to inhibit DHT in the body, improve urinary tract health, and support hair health. What It Is
Pumpkin seed oil is extracted from the humble pumpkin’s seeds but contains powerful extracts with many health benefits called phytosterols.
What It Does
Like saw palmetto, phytosterols in cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil have been shown to block the action of 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme responsible for hair loss.
Pumpkin Seed contains the compounds delta-7-sterine and beta-sitosterol that compete with and lower the level of DHT in the follicles. Saw palmetto and pumpkin seed extracts have been used in combination for years as effective treatment in Europe and more recently North America.

Pumpkin seed oil has been shown in randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind studies to block the action of 5-alpha reductase.

What It Is
Castor oil is made from the seeds of the castor plant. Its medicinal use dates back to ancient Egypt.
What it does
High quantities of Vitamin E and Omega-9 fatty acids in castor oil nourish the scalp and hair. It contains anti-fungal properties and anti-bacterial acids to help prevent and treat scalp infections. Castor Seed oil soothes dry scalp, adds moisture to the hair, and nourishes the follicle for healthy growth.
The Science
Although there are no scientific studies on Castor oil and hair, the nutrients in castor oil—like antioxidants and fatty acids—have been known for decades to be beneficial for hair and scalp health.

Rosemary, Lavendar & Cedarwood Extract
What It Is

What It Does

The Science
Dermatologists in Scotland gave an essential oil blend containing Rosemary, Lavender and Cedarwood to participants suffering from alopecia areata. After 7 months, almost half regrew as much as 50% of their hair, while a few regrew almost all of it back.
