SAW PALMETTO (SERENOA REPENS)
Saw Palmetto is a tropical palm-like small plant mostly found in North America. Extract derived from its berries is highly rich in fatty acids.
Essential fatty acids are required for the proper function of every cell in the body, increasing the absorption of vitamins and minerals and properly nourishing hair, skin and nails. They must be obtained through the diet as the body does not make them naturally.
Saw Palmetto has been widely accepted as a very effective herbal treatment to reverse hair loss and treat conditions like alopecia and male or female pattern baldness.
According to studies, saw palmetto’s extracts inhibit DHT in the scalp, thus helping control hair loss and reviving hair follicles. Learn more about DHT here.
Benefits:
- Hair follicles are strengthened
- The scalp is less sensitive to stress and irritation
- Hair improves in body and shine.
External (topical ) application of saw palmetto oil is easily absorbed by the skin. Hence massaging the scalp with the oil and leaving it on for at least an hour (overnight is ideal) aids in the best results due to better absorption.
Of note: there are various potencies of saw palmetto oil - much depends on how the oil is extracted from the berry. Supercritical CO2 extraction retains 85-95% of the medicinal value of essential fatty acids. HAIRMETTO proudly uses only the highest potency CO2 extracted saw palmetto in our products.

PUMPKIN SEED OIL (CUCURBITA PEPO)
Pumpkin is a plant, and its extracted oil, rich in fatty acids, is used for multiple health purposes. Studies show that Pumpkin Seed oil also inhibits the enzyme in the body (5-alpha reductase) that converts testosterone into DHT. DHT is found in the hair follicles of the scalp and causes these follicles to shrink.
Pumpkin Seed contains the compounds delta-7-sterine and beta-sitosterol that compete with and lower the level of DHT in the follicles. Furthermore, studies have demonstrated the synergistic benefits of combining Pumpkin Seed with Saw Palmetto for increased efficacy.
HAIRMETTO® Saw Palmetto Topical Oil is a powerful blend of saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oils that enhance the DHT-blocking effects and adds essential nutrients for scalp health.
Extraction matters here too. Cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil retains its medicinal value. Oils extracted using heat or other methods will not provide the benefits adequately.

CASTOR SEED OIL (RICINUS COMMUNIS)
Castor Seed contains anti-fungal properties and anti-bacterial acids that can help prevent and treat scalp infections that may cause hair loss over time.
High quantities of Vitamin E and Omega-9 fatty acids found in castor oil:
- nourish both the scalp and hair
- combat hair loss, stimulate hair growth
- treats scalp infection
- reduce split ends and breakage
- nourish and moisturize the hair
- soothe dry scalp
- provide thickness to the hair
Massaging the scalp with castor oil can help improve blood circulation to the follicles and encourage their natural cycle. By stimulating the follicles, they will produce more hair. Many have found castor oil can promote darker hair growth in place of previously grey hairs.
HAIRMETTO® uses only Pharmaceutical Grade Castor Oil. While we would like to choose an organic source, the medicinal values would be lost. Choosing USP Castor Seed Oil retains the essential function and benefits to your scalp and hair.
ROSEMARY, LAVENDAR & CEDARWOOD EXTRACT
Dermatologists at Aberdeen Infirmary in Scotland gave an essential oil blend containing Rosemary, Lavender and Cedarwood to participants suffering from alopecia areata and asked them to rub it into their scalps daily. After 7 months, almost half regrew as much as 50% of their hair, while a few regrew almost all of their hair back. The study was reported in the Nov/Dec 1999 issue of Health magazine.
Cedarwood oil is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, regularizing the skins sebum production, assisting with seborrhea or seborrheic eczema where sebum production is increased causing infection in the epidermal cells.
Rosemary essential oil is known for its antimicrobial properties, and is used for a variety of skin infections including eczema.
Lavender essential oil’s anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties work for the health of the scalp and assist follicles with hair growth.
